My best holydays

Hi, I’m going to talk about my best holidays memories. It happened in 2015, it was a summer when I was a dramatic arts student and with my boyfriend (ex-boyfriend by the way) who was an actor too, we decided to go to Peru and Ecuador when we finished our academic year. It was a trip that we made with great joy, but with very little money.

The travel started in Valparaiso and we went to the nearest road and the adventure began. 

We had to hitch-hike to the north of Chile, we needed the good will of the drivers and they did it, but it wasn’t easy all the time. The hardest moment was when we waited in the desert at noon and for hours for a driver to take us, but a man driving a truck stopped and took us to Arica.

Crossing the frontier we visited cities like Arequipa, Mancora and Lima. My favourite place in Peru was Mancora, because the small town facing the sea was beautiful, simple and people were very friendly, we stayed there a couple days.

After we went to Lima we went to the beach, touristic and historical places and a museum of contemporary art.

We decided to continue our trip and continue heading north. We went to Baños de Agua Santa and Montañita in Ecuador, Montañita is on the beach and there were many iguanas, that is my favourite memorie, because there were a lot of people wanting to celebrate destructively in my opinion.

In Baños we were many days because it was very quiet and the landscape was beautiful, we stayed in a very cheap campsite with very friendly guests. We ride a bicycle to see the volcanoes, we tear off people at the carnaval because they wanted to get us wet with buckets of water and they succeeded a couple of times and we even fell in the street.

At the campsite we had a bad experience because the weather was very rainy and we had all our belongings wet, at that moment we thought the best thing we could do was return to Chile, because we didn’t have money to pay for a better place, but we met a Chilean guest who helped us and miraculously the sun came out the next day and we were able to dry all our clothes and we were able to continue with our holiday trip.

I have so many beautiful memories of that summer, a lot of experiences and a friend with whom I talk even to this day.
